Changing the Amount of Child Support

Parents receiving support can ask for the amount to be increased if they can show that the paying parent’s income has increased, especially if the current amount of ordered support has not met the child’s needs. Support may also be increased if a child’s specific needs for certain services change, such as education or medical treatment.

Parents paying support may be able to lower future support payments if they face the loss of a job or a reduction in income.
